Arrival in Kyiv.

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra tour (Cave monastery, 4 hours).
There is a unique architectural ensemble on the picturesque hillside on the bank of river Dnipro - National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve. Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is the most ancient monastery in Old Rus. It was founded in times of Yaroslav the Wise. Since ancient times catacombs were existing in the hills above the river bank. According to the chronicles monks Antony and Theodosy have lodged in those catacombs and founded the monastery in 1051. This monastery was the center of Christianity legalization and popularization in Kyivan Rus.
It was titled "Lavra" as the biggest primary monastery in 12th century and went down in history as Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It was huge church-feudal economy and possessed 3 cities, 7 towns, surrounded by 200 villages and farms, over 70 thousand serfs, 2 paper-mills, 11 brickyards, 2 stud farms and so on. Kiev Pechersk Lavra played an important part in development of Old Russian culture, was the chronicle center. The works of foreign writers have been translated here. Reverend Nestor, the chronicle writer worked here (author of "Tale of bygone years").
Eventually this monastery has turned into the center of Christian religion and pilgrimage, affected the question of Eastern Slavic lands consolidation. It was the spiritual, social, cultural and educational center, Kyiv-Pechersk monastery has won international recognition in Poland, Armenia, Byzantium, Bulgaria and other countries.
Unique art monuments of the Reserve reflect a difficult way of development of national culture and religion - after all every era left here it's trace.
Nowadays the architectural complex of the Monastery is devided into three parts: Upper Lavra on the flat plateau, Lower Lavra on the hillside with territories of Near caves and Far Caves. Upper Lavra is the National historical and cultural reserve. It is subordinated to the Ministry of Culture. Lower Lavra is a monastery of the Ukrainian orthodox church (The Moscow patriarchy).
Amazing churches - on the surface and underground, picturesque landscapes and preserved numerous religious relics of National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve have been included in UNESCO world heritage list in 1990. Now the Reserve territory is 28 hectares on the hillside with 122 architectural monuments of the XI—XVIII centuries.

Day 2

The Holy-Dormition Univ Lavra - one of the most ancient monasteries in the territory of Ukraine, the central monastery of the Galitsky diocese of UGCC.
The monastery of defensive type was founded in XIV century by prince Fedor Lyubartovich. Lagodovsky's gravestone is preserved. It is one of the best samples of west Ukrainian sculpture of the Renaissance. The was printing house in the monastery producing ancient books in the XVII-XVIII centuries. The monastery was closed when the land was joined to the Austrian Empire. It was reconstructed under the residence of the metropolitan. Monastic life was revived here by the metropolitan Andrey Sheptitsky. He transferred the monastery to monks of the Studit statute.
In 1919 this sacred place received again the monastery status. The main shrine is the copy of the Univ wonder-working icon of the Virgin.
17.00 transfer to Pochayev.

The Holy-Dormition Pochayev Lavra - one of the greatest orthodox shrines, the second shrine in Ukraine after Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The legend describes reverend Mefodiy, Athon monk, as the founder of the monastery. Kiev monks escaped from the Tatar invasion in 1240 and settled in on the Pochayev hill. There is a legend about Blessed Virgin visited this place. There is a footprint of Virgin Mary left on the stone and water source appeared under this stone. Now these relics are inside The Dormition Cathedral (1783, the architectHoffman). The wonder-working icon of the Virgin Mary is preserved in the main altar, presented to a monastery in 1597 by its founder - the land-owning lace A. Goyskaya. Pilgrims apply to the relics of reverend Iov. He was the prior of a monastery during opposition with the union in the XVII century.

Day 3
5.00 Participation in morning service.
6.00-9.00 You will have an opportunity to venerate four shrines: the stone with a trace of the right Foot of the Virgin Mary and a water source under this stone, a wonder-working icon of the Pochayev Virgin Mary, reverends Iov and Amfilokhiya's relics.
Moving to the Pochayev Holy Spirit Skete-Monastery which was founded by monks in 1227. There is a wonder-working icon, reverend Mefodiy's relics and other shrines. The sacred place is visited by many pilgrims from the different countries to find miraculous healing.
Travel to Saint Anna's lake, bathing in the healing water.
Travel to The God's Mountain. The is a wonder-working water source on the top under a rock where they found footprint of The Virgin.
Departure to Kiev at 17.00.
Arrival at 23.00.
